These types of plans typically have better coverage and smaller hot-spot volumes, without using bulky wedges, which often results in shorter treatment times for patients as well. However, planning using these techniques is an iterative process involving multiple calculations and plan assessments before arriving at an ideal plan. In an attempt to streamline their breast planning workflow, the University of California San Diego (USCD) assessed the efficacy of EZFluence as a solution for automating 3D planning.
