Evaluation of Independent/Secondary Verification Systems for
Patient-Specific Quality Assurance in Advanced Radiotherapy
High-volume radiotherapy centers often face intense resource constraints, with heavy patient demand competing for limited machine time. Evercare Hospital Chattogram in Bangladesh, which treats roughly 65 patients a day, found its conventional, phantom-based patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA) unsustainable. To overcome this bottleneck and build a scalable workflow without compromising safety, the hospital evaluated Radformation’s independent secondary dose calculation software, ClearCalc and RadMonteCarlo. Transitioning to software-based verification allowed the department to maintain strict dosimetric accuracy while freeing up critical staff and linac availability.
What you’ll learn in this case study:
-
How high patient throughput and restricted linac availability create operational challenges for physical, phantom-based PSQA
-
How ClearCalc and RadMonteCarlo use advanced physics models to automate monitor unit, point dose, and full 3D dose verification
-
The results of a 180-plan evaluation showing gamma passing rates over 98% and tight alignment with treatment planning systems and physical benchmarks
-
How software-based verification reduces a department's routine reliance on physical setups, saving valuable time and increasing clinical capacity
